“SHARE Cable, Senegal's first fully state-owned submarine optical cable, offers a great strategic opportunity for Senegal and the West African region to have more internet capacity and better resilience. Directly connected to Cape Verde, Senegal plans to become one of the Internet hubs in West Africa. ADIE (…) is ready to supply network operators and ISPs. enough Internet bandwidth that can benefit both local residents and businesses to drive the development of the digital economy,” commented Cheikh Bakhoum, CEO of ADIE.
Expected to be ready for commissioning in the first quarter of 2022, the SHARE cable will complement connectivity to Europe and South America via other international submarine cables that land in Cape Verde. There is also potential for future connectivity options with other countries in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
